I think your mission is to find out whether the pedal is stuck mechanically, or the slave cylinder is extended as far as it can go, or the release fork is frozen, or ???

I'd expect some mechanical play in the pedal even if everything were bound up tight at the clutch...but opening the bleeder and shoving the pedal would tell you which end of the system you were dealing with.

I don't recall any needle bearings anywhere in there. The release fork has plastic sleeve bearings.
