As promised, I am reminding everyone that we are planning a small gathering in a Salt Lake City park next weekend. Here are the specifics:

Saturday May 5 11:00 AM (or so) Sugarhouse park in Salt Lake City (directions below)

I'm not too sure how many people are going to be there, but there should be at least 7-10 others. There has been some discussion about what we will do and accomplish at the park. I personally would like to: 1) have an enjoyable VW-related Saturday (that doesn't include swinging a wrench) 2) meet some of you 3) discuss some sort of Utah VW camping trip for this summer

I will probably be there with my daughter (2 years old) and a picnic lunch. There should be plenty of things for kids to do at the park if they don't want to discuss vans.

See you then! Feel free to email me any questions.

Blake 84 Westy SLC, Utah

---------------------------- Directions:

Getting there: Sugarhouse park is East of 1300 East and between 2100 South and I-80. If you are coming from the north or south, take I-15 to I-80 Eastbound (toward Park City). If you are coming from the East, take I-80 to Salt Lake City (but you will get off I-80 before you get to I-15). In either case, take the 1300 East exit on I-80 (if you are by the Airport, you are way too far west, get back on I-15 southbound and then take I-80 Eastbound). Once you get I-80 on 1300 East, you are basically there. After getting of the freeway, head north half a block to 2100 South and turn right (East) to get to the entrance of the park.

In case my directions are cryptic, I've found "www.mapquest.com" to be useful. I tried to link to the map, but couldn't get it to work. If you go there for a map to sugarhouse park, you can enter Intersection: 2100 S 1300 E City: Salt Lake City State: UT and it will give you a map to the park.

If its still not clear, send me an email.

Where in the park? Sugarhouse park is a fairly large one-way loop. I drove around it last weekend to determine the best place to meet. I think a good place to meet would be the south-east corner of the park. There is a large parking lot there, a play-ground for kids and the stream runs by too. There is also a field area there. In any case, there will probably not be more then two groups of vanagons in the park so it shouldn't be hard to find everyone.
