Chris, I don't know about Canada, but down here in Ohio, an auction bid is a binding contract, and auction fraud is a felony. Nice thing to remind someone who backs out on a auction deal.

eBay can be very frustrating. I'm lucky to deal in an area (camera gear) where I've had no problems at all, even doing a lot of overseas sales. I've seen a lot of abuse in other areas though. I even watched a certain Vanagon list member from Florida illegally retract a bid after he found out on the list that the amount he was bidding on a fuel injection manual was more than he could get it for from other sources. The sad part was seeing the lie he posted as his excuse for retracting his bid.
