When I fill up my van with gas, it overruns directly underneith the rig. Wondering if the tanks have a known problem of rusting up top or the filler neck coming undone. I need to run the tank almost out of gas before I drop the tank and inspect. Hopefully I can get some kind of insight before I start tearing everything out? >> Patrick, This is a common problem. The grommets on top of the tank dry out and cause the leaks. There are 3 small ones and one large one for the filler pipe. Then there's also the gasket for the sender. You gotta change them out or just never fill up your tank. All the parts are available from your local VW dealer. Or if you want to do it all in one shot, I believe Ken @ VanAgain sells a complete change-out kit. Ben T Vanagon Cafe |
