Ouch. What's the mileage on the engine? If you don't know already, if it's
internal engine/ real oil pressure problem, there's a controversey over
whether it's connecting rod bearings or the mains. I went with Bostonbob's
belief of betting on rod bearings. Well, it wasn't that, but I'm still
figuring out the problem and hoping it's not the main bearings. I just
found that my cat. convertor is clogged and I'm hoping the new one will keep
the heads cooler. But, if you are facing a real oil pressure prob, Go with
a new block, or a conversion. If you do the conversion, just drive 'er till
she drops, whilst collecting the needed parts, engine, wiring and know-how.
Remember, the vanagon owner's manual says the light can flicker at idle!
