Typically, that is not a trans problem...(no 1st or 2nd) I would go under the car to the lever at the trans and see if you can get all 4 (5) gears...no need to remove anything...just grab the lever and move the whole setup...not pushed in and just moved to the front (of the van) is 4th...back is 3rd Push the lever all the way in and back..that is Rev...push the lever half way in..there is the area for 1st & 2nd..holding it in that mid point against the spring pressure and moving the lever back is 1st & fwd is 2nd..If you get the gears there...you are sure to have a linkage problem.
