After several years on the list and feeling smug with the simplicity and reliability of my '81 air-cooled, I bought an '87 Syncro Westy GL. I'm still getting familiar with it and the differences between the two.

After 2 400-miles trips through the mtns to some hot springs, I can say that it sure rolls along faster(!) And more comfortably, too.

There were a few things to fix up, but my mechanics think it is in super condition. They didn't see it until I drove it home to Boulder. It is always good to get approval after the fact. ;-)

One mysterious electrical problem that I'll post later for list solution.

Now I read the water-boxer problems/questions/answers on the list with much greater interest. :-)
