I use the system Hans describes below. The tarp is 16 by 20. It takes my wife and I about 10 minutes to put it up once we decide there is a need for it. There's room underneath it for a picnic table and a couple of folding armchairs and the high peak gives you lots of drainage. The other advantage is headroom --- there's lots! I like this set-up so much that I have no desire to invest in any commercial type that clips to the rain gutter. I have a digital pic of this rig that I'll p-mail to anyone who's interested.
