Put on new BF GoodRich AT's about 1500 miles ago. Got a 4 wheel alignement
after I had them on for about 1000 miles because it was pulling slightly to
the right. They did not have to adjust anything in the rear.
I had the van out 4 wheelin in some pretty tough stuff, one hill in
particular that was steep and rocky. About 50-75 miles after 4 wheelin it
started to get a shake and loud vibration, coming from the rear end, (so it
feels that way). It seems to have gotten progressivly worse. It is so bad
that it has loosened the bolts on my exhaust to the point it fell off.
I thought it was a problem with the tires, thought they got cupped , or
lost a weight. I went back and had them rotated and rebalance tires. I
figured drive for awile and wear them back in. This was not working so I
switched tires from my other van. Still shaking.
So now I am thinking either driveshaft, CV's or wheel bearing.
Driveshaft seems tight it turns about 1 inch or so, seems normal.
U-joints
look ok, but what should I be looking for?
CV's, what is best way to check them? And should I replace all four of
them? Do the inners and outers where about the same on the rear?
Wheel bearing? I will jack it up and spin tire to see what happens but I
do not think it is that.
Here is what it does. Pretty much shakes at all speeds. Around 40 is
when
it is the worst. If I am going > 35 and take my foot of the gas it is
smooth, when I put my foot back on gas it shakes.
If I am going 55-60 It shakes (more of a good vibration at that speed) no
matter what I do gas on or off, in gear or not.
So hopefully it is not a cracked flywheel or other internal tranny
problem. But the main thing is it got worse and worse, it did not just
happen at once.
So what does everyone think??
Thank you in advance
