Subject: 84 vanagon transmission problem
Content-type: text/plain; charset="ISO-8859-1"

I've inherited a gas 84 vanagon GL that won't shift into 1st or 2nd. Tried a new bushing kit which tightened up the shift pattern but still no 1st or 2nd. Tried adjusting the linkage as described in All Data and still no help.

Any other ideas out there before I drop the transmission and look for a replacement?

Thanks.
