Subject: Buying a radiator
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Hey there, I've looked at Bus Depot and they have a German and a South African Radiator to choose from. So whats the difference besides a few dollars? Are there any improvements or changes in the SA version? Are they a hotter climate (or are they too close to the South Pole?)?

Also does anyone have any experience with Wolfsburg Wholesale in Mountain View? They can get me a radiator for 195 or thereabouts (they said that because they're wholesalers that the price fluctuates with the dollars, like I called him today and the price went up by 3 dollars. He said sometimes it goes down to.....).

Are there any manufacturers of radiators for the Vanagon (I have a 91) to avoid. I have no idea who the OEM was or if it was made in house. He said his source would be European or Volkswagon of America. He said he supplies to mechanics in the area.... I found his number in the phone book.

Also, I'm curious if anyone knows anything about Fred's Garage. Vanagon.com gives them good review stating that the mechanics are all german trained. Well, Fred's now retired and his two sons are now running the place, and the german trained mechanics are long since gone. They come from Mexico these days. So does anyone have any feedback good or bad?
