Hi all. Thanks to my spanky new digital camera, I finally got it together and took pics of the redesigned spare tire carrier I built 2 years ago to accommodate my syncro's 215/75R15 tires. There are probably many different, and likely easier, answers to this question, but I wanted to get the tire up as high as possible and also to keep things neat - and this is what I ended up with. I thought about adapting the stock carrier, but it just didn't seem like it would work cleanly. Anyhow, enough talk - go to... http://y42.photos.yahoo.com/bc/yarmovar/lst?.dir=/Vanagon ...and open the "Spare Tire Carrier" album to see lots of pics - including plenty of fresh rust and some really sloppy welding! There are some not-too-detailed instructions there as well for anyone inclined to spend $10-20 and a weekend day! Don't hesitate to p-mail with any questions.
