Years ago I bought one for a car I no longer have -- hopefully no longer exists -- from a FLAPS. Didn't see any when I was scrounging for those 50W halogen brake light bulbs last weekend. Try yearwood.com. They carry a variety of third brake light assemblies for street rod applications -- everything from surface and pedestal mounts to nifty weld in housings. While the taillights aren't 'low' in relation to most passenger car lights, I think the few people that actually pay attention when they drive are accustomed to seeing the high middle light. I keep eye-balling the shelf lip behind the A/C unit as a nice place for an LED strip. If anybody has found a good source for roundtoits please let me know. Has anyone installed one with any success?
