I've hauled 15 one hundred pound bags of plaster on the floor in my 85 GL with the 1.9 L engine from Anchorage, Alaska through the Chugach Mountains down to Kenai, AK. A good solid 150 miles or so.

Never had such an occasion with my 88 GL. But the 85GL did well, and did it more than once.
