VWoA definitely monitors VW related email lists. I'm a little surprised that they would wade through this Vanagon morass though, considering that even the newest Vanagon's are 10 years old.

I was on the GTI VR6 mailing list, and someone posted their tale about how they had their GTI at the dragstrip when their transmission took a dump, but how after towing it to the local VW dealership it was being replaced under warranty. The day after posting he called up the VW dealer to check the status of the repair and found out that VWoA had seen his post and told the dealer that they would no longer replace the transmission under warranty.
