Bought my 82 diesel 3 years ago for $400.00. The head was cracked, I found a complete (wrecked) 83 gti for $75.00 and performed the swap. since then I have replaced brake master cylinder, clutch master cylinder, clutch, brakes and assorted small misc. parts. I figure I have about $1200.00 into the thing, I've driven it 75,000 miles since purchase, not trouble free, but close enough for what I've got into it. It recently became the weekend car with my recent purchase of an 84 quantum, $400 also (hey, I'm cheap, and have some mechanical ability). I hope I can get the same life from it. Oh yeah, if I lived on the east coast, I'd buy used stuff from chris :) Don 82 diesel now gti 1.8 84 quantum Portland, Or. ----- Original Message ----- From: Terry Kay <CTONLINE@webtv.net> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Wednesday, May 09, 2001 10:09 PM Subject: Re: is your Vanagon your main/only vehicle?
