Steve, I think you're on to something! Don't know how it would work out to "loan out" parts, but your idea of keeping a cache of critical parts is a sound one. On instinct, I've begun to accumulate backups of parts like tail light assemblies, which, in their way, could be considered "decommissioning." I'm soon to order a new water & fuel pump as spares when traveling--just about the only parts I haven't swaped pre-emtively--with the exception of a tranny. Many thanks to listmembers who've shipped spares to me, for very fair prices--latest being Bill Kasper, from Santa Cruz CA (not far from me)--who's sending a couple grab handles & coat hooks. Little things mean a lot. BTW, I could use a dozen curtain hooks & good a set of grilles for my '85 Westy. Anybody have these? Cheers, Phaedra |
