I had problems with my van until I switched the pump/filter assembly over from the golf. The van would only run for short periods of time and stall with the other pump. But, who knows maybe something else was wrong. In reality it isn't hard to change from the vanagon pump to the Golf pump assembly so why not try the Vanagon pump first. If it works it will save you some work.
