Yes Steve, they are attached to the front door so when you open the door after some super muddy - offroading you won't get your pants dirty when you slide out. The only other vans to get this treatment was the Deutsche Post vans.

Can someone tell me how the front fender flares are attached to the 16" syncros. It appears that the forward piece attaches to the door and not to the fender/door jam. Is this correct? Did VW use rivets of bolts? Thanks for any info. Steve
