It took me and a friend a good 15 minutes to get my engine in recently. Assuming the clutch is installed properly, the angles and alignment are critical in getting these units together.

Have someone underneath work a small jack under the tranny while you work the engine on its jack. The person underneath can see the angles much better. Off by 2 degrees up, down or sideways and it won't fit. -- Stuart MacMillan Seattle
