Yep, almost certainly a bad ground at the multiple tap that is right under the dash on the driver's side. Remove the fuse panel and right above it you will see a circular group of spade connectors riveted to the body. Remove and clean each one, and I'll bet your problem goes away.

The only affordable solar devices I've seen are for trickle charging the battery, and their output is so low that they wouldn't keep up with any demand on the battery.
