I guess it's not fair to compare a 1.6na to a 1.6 td. However, I can go 70+mph. It starts to make me nervous above that. All the clatter sounds like a mongoose is chasing something in my engine compartment above that speed.

There are diesel tachs available for the Vanagons. however, in my search, I've found that they are quite rare.

I am installing a gas-engine tach in my turbo diesel w/ the use of an adapter from Dakota Digital (thanks for the lead Michael Sullivan). Also there's this guy Martin who talks about a VDO tach which can be added on. IIRC he calls his website the Diesel Webpage.
