Javier lives in Lima, Peru.
I was there in '92--& I saw a level of povery that
would make a typical homeless person in San Francisco
look like a yuppy.  I saw, for example, two ten year old
boys roasting an old yellow dog over a garbbage fire in
a little park in downtown Lima.
A Swiss tourist I met while there was robbed at gunpoint,
led into an alley, & told to strip.  He was left without even
so much as his jockey shorts.
