Probably a combination of tired syncro and small cracks in the 3/4 slider hub...The hub puts the 2 gears and forks slightly out of position and can also wear the housing out and some intermittent strange shifting... Redline will not help broken pieces unfortunately, but it will cure stiff shifting at times esp. cold... $995 for a rebuild with a 3 yr warranty plus shipping (about $80) and a $400 core charge till your old trans is returned.. Good Luck & holler if I can help Daryl of AA Transaxle Duvall, WA.(Seattle area) (425) 788-4070 1-877-377-0773 toll free http://www.aatransaxle.com (web site) On Thu, 10 May 2001 08:14:48 -0500 Mark Ingalls <ingalls_mark@hotmail.com> writes: > Hi Volks, > > My 85 GL started to grind when shifting into 3rd gear a few moths > ago.
