I don't have all of these in my car, but I recommend:

Jumper cables* Flashlight (and spare batteries)* Warning triangle* Safety flares* / chemical lightsticks Gloves* Jack* Tire Wrench* Blanket Nonperishable food for 2-3 days Perhaps a CB radio*

... you never know!

(starred items either came with my car or are present in the emergency kit I got at Sam's Club. As soon as I find a good space blanket, in it goes) --
