I had to cut the return hose on mine when I did mine last year because
someone had taken a pair of pliers to the plastic hose and smashed the heck
out of a 6 inch section for some reason.  Trying to boost fuel pressure or a
disgruntled mechanic?

Anyway amazingly enough that section that was smashed didn't show any sign
of leaking. I mean it was smashed almost flat.
