Speaking as someone who has been rear heaterless for a couple of years..... and know others who do extended trips that also have removed this heater.  No problems at all...

Just add a short length of tubing between the two heater hoses and double clamp it for security.  Tie it out of the way and enjoy a good deal more storage area.
