I didn't think they had Toyota-badged trucks there, just Hino-badged ones (Hino is Toyota's main heavy-truck division).

Most roads here are paved (all main ones in particular), though there are still a lot of minor dirt/gravel roads. No jungle here, though our native forests do have ropy vines (called "supplejack") in places, giving a bit of a jungly feel.

To be honest, a RWD hi-po van would be more fun on dirt. You wouldn't be able to hang the tail out with a Syncro, just understeer.

We have a lot of Subarus here too, funny, production is supposed to be small-scale; how then are they almost as common as Nissans?

I want the power for overtaking, basically. Our highways are narrow, generally one lane each way (though they are putting in passing lanes here & there these days) and often pretty bendy, so overtaking is headache-producing stuff. The more acceleration you have at your foot, the less time you spend on the wrong side of the road and the shorter space you can use to do it. Safety, convenience... plus the fun of seeing the passees' expressions as a van blasts past. The G50 trans I want for economy (tall gearing) and economy (won't have to fix it 'cause it won't break).
