Subject: Sealant on cooling system fittings?
Content-Type: multipart/alternative;

At three points on my '86 WBX there are metal-to-metal cooling system joints--

At a little 7mm fitting off cylinder #2, and two for the big pipe that runs under the crankshaft pulley. Bently shows an o-ring on these, but mine has paper gaskets.

I'm renewing all this stuff (putting in new engine). Should I use any sort of gasket compound, or just the paper gaskets in the dry? The fittings are very clean and in good shape.

Thanks,

Steve
