Mine is in my 87 Wolfsburg, you have to remove the jump seat to swivel the front seat, you also have to do some small mods to get it in. I enlarged the bolt holes in the Vanagon, didn't actually drill out metal, just excess paint in the holes. I also removed the metal door on top of the battery to get the base to clear. You could either remove the metal door as I did or the carpet flap. I chose to remove the metal door so I can still access the battery terminals if needed, the carpet flap covers the battery compartment. To remove the metal flap I drilled out the rivets, it could easily be riveted back in to return to stock.
