Wow! I was looking through a catalog and I see the oil pump for the 2000cc Type IV engines is $300.00. It is aparrent that rebuilders don't put in new oil pumps. Is there a test procedure for pumps? What's the life on these pumps? Is there a procedure for rebuilding these pumps? I'm trying to put together a high quality type IV engine to replace the one in my Westfalia and although I've gotten almost all of my parts together the price for this pump just throws me for a loop. I'm wondering if one can have a high quality rebuild job without this new pump.
