Personally I like the idea of a transverse mounted GM 3.8L V6 and auto trans. The only conversion pieces would be the driveshafts. I think one could mount the entire subframe from the Buick into a Vanagon. I guess just omit the lower control arms and other suspension bits tied to the subframe. My neighbors Buick Lesabre really launches hard for a big family sedan. The 3.8L would be very strong in a regular(light) vanagon. > -----Original Message----- > From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com]On Behalf > Of Timothy Hannink > Sent: Saturday, May 19, 2001 10:34 AM > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Subject: Re: Corvair and Porsche 914 Engines (Was: Towing!!!) > > > Has anyone ever looked into using the drivetrain out of a Toyota MR2 or a > Pontiac Fiero in a van or bus? > > Tim Hannink > Winter Park, Florida > Goldibox - 1987 Wolfsburg Edition Westfalia Camper > http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumList?u=1443607 > |
