It is fairly convenient for draining the fluid before dropping the pan, cleaning the screen and replacing the gasket. IIRC correctly I paid about $11usd for an auto tranny filter kit with a new screen and gasket form the Bus Depot. A separtae gasket cost something in the neighborhood of $4usd -- not really what I call expensive in the context of a healthy tranny. Last time I changed the fluid in mine I drained it, dropped the pan and let it sit for quite a while before reinstalling everything and refilling it. I put in right at 4 quarts of ATF.
