It's not that they're not as beefy, they're just different. The Volkswagen/America ones are flexible rubber, whereas the Volkswagen/South Africa ones (which I sell) look similar but are actually made of hard plastic. The U.S. ones do _look_ like they would be more beefy, but they tend to rip, whereas my South African ones don't, so if anything I'd say they're less reliable in real-world use.
