Assuming the rotor turns clockwise in my 83.5 Westy it would appear only the latter half of the rotor's tip is doing any work. The copper (or brass?) metal tip that is as wide as the rotor and hits (or rather passes by) the contacts in the distributor cap. On my rotor the first half of the tip is clean like brand new except for a slight dulling. The second half is darkened and has a little black residue which I would consider normal -- IF -- the residue covered the whole length of the rotors metal tip. Is this a sign my timing is retarded--or is this a normal situation? TIA Jeff 83.5 Westy LA,CA |
