I have a Kenwood cd changer combo, 2 amps (one under passenger seat, the one for the sub, under rear bench), and a small, inexpensive cross-over, for separation. My set up was not expensive. I have a DEI 12'' sub in the cargo compartment, 2 DEI 6.5" on the rear stock location (not much modification), and 2 Kenwood 4.5" with separate tweeters on the doors. Check around car sound stores, even truck speaker boxes sound great when some power is added. I did my own installation, and it sounds great, since the Vanagon is tight, and the surrounding sheetmetal doesn't vibrate at all, unlike small Asian vehicles. Try and get a Crutchfield catalog, and if you need it, I can assist you.
