Subject: Re: OT: Photo of old BMW motorhome

Actually, what you have stumbled upon is a Vixen motorhome. Made in the late '70's into the '80's. They had a folding roof similar to a Dormobile, but only went up a foot and a half or so, but 7'headroom inside with it up. 21 feet long, so theoretically garageable. They also made a "hi-roof" model with a molded hard roof. Those typically had a 3.8l Buick/GM v6. They also (usually) came with central a/c and heat, microwave (no stove), fridge, all the typical amenities. Spoke with an owner a couple years ago, he got mid-20's for mileage with the BMW diesel, was going to put an intercooler in sometime, but didn't really need it, easily able to keep up with traffic. I was intrigued with the rig, to say the least.
