I'm coming in a little late on this one. My first car was a Corvair Corsa. 4 carbs and supposedly 110 HP. It was a great little car with a fairly slippery body design and it would go about 100 mph pedal to the floor. I can't image it would be that much better than the VW motor pushing the Vanagon with its Brick inspired aerodynamics.
