Well if people add salty water to their coolant system, or otherwise impure
water, and they don't add a coolant with it, then they miss out on the
corrosion protection of vw coolant (the blue). Sticking with the "program"
is fine for back yard mechanic approaching age 90 and getting beat down by
the heat of his "garage" which of course causes him to make plenty of
innocent mistakes while working on his vanagon in the twilight of his years.
Its not optimal maybe, but neither are some of our brains.
