Filters: only Mann or Maule (check my spelling) Oil: 20W50 in Kendal (dino), 15W50 or 20W50 in Redline (synthetic), 15W50 in Mobile One (synthetic) (Some people also like Valvoline or Castrol dino in 20W50, but Castrol Syntec is said to be not truly synthetic, that they have been sued by Mobile One for claiming to be synthetic) Redline is said to use a higher grade stock or base than Mobile One, though Mobile One is a great oil, Redline is just thought of as being "greater" and more expensive. Kendal is said to be the only dino oil that doesn't use reclaimed oil. Its high grade stuff and dino oils have the reputation of being better than synthetics at cooling your engine, or taking heat away from your engine. All of these mentioned oils are currently mixable (unlike earlier versions of synthetic that could not be mixed with dino oil - always read the label to be sure and safe) >From: Tony Gould <tgerr95@yahoo.com> >Reply-To: Tony Gould <tgerr95@yahoo.com> >To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM >Subject: oil recommendations >Date: Sun, 20 May 2001 19:10:18 -0700 > >Hi all - new to having a vanagon - 89 carat -any >suggestions on oil brand/weight/filters? - I live in >sunny So Calif.. > >Tony > >__________________________________________________ >Do You Yahoo!? >Yahoo!
