Subject: Replacing motor mounts 84 wb- Help!!!
Comments: To: vanagon@vanagon.com

Trying to replace my mounts. Left one, at least is bad. I've remove those large bolts that go through the mounts and the engine brace. Just can't think of what us 'Mericuns call that thing so I'll use the Brit word.

As usual, I'm having some difficulties. The bolt through the right bolt won't budge. Using Bulley Procedure (clean, soak, tap, heat). No luck so far.

Also can't get the nut off the top of the left mount. In fact, a cannot get a wrench or socket on it. That's the one that is hiding beneath the water pump pulley.

What should I do? Can I tilt the engine enough with the right mount still connected? Or must I remove whole brace (after supporting the engine)? Is there some secret to that nut hiding under the water pump pulley? Must I remove the water pump pulley or water pump to get at that stubborn little bolt?

I'm currently in no mail mode. Please cc me at mrnimmo@yahoo.com.

Thanks, Das Kapitan 84 Vanagon--Sunroof and Weekender Z Bed
