As a former Sears auto shop inspector here is the deal. Sears is not interested in keeping experienced mechanics. They are interested in the bottom line. Many people are forced to put large repairs on their Sears charge when they don't have the cash. There are some very good mechanics at Sears but there are some kids just out of middle school. You could get either working on your car at Sears. "Caveat emptor" (sp?). Small shops don't do this because they need to keep their good rep.
