Subject: update on Michelin tires in Canada
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Please tuck this in the back of our collective knowledge:

I tried to order Agilis 61 185R14C from a retailer today in Halifax. He said, no can do, 14 inch Agilis are not available in Canada.

OK. I say, check the maximum pressure of the Rainforce MX4 and let me know if it is suitable for the Vanagon camper, because the Michelin website is reccomending it as the only tire available for this vehicle.

Wait two hours.

Hi. Michelin Canada does not think the MX4 is appropriate for the Vanagon. They recommend LTX M&S.

As uncomfortable as I was, I said OK, order them. Then I second guess myself. I call Michelin Canada. I explain that I want a source for Agilis tires in Canada.

No problem sir. We have a whole pile of new Agilis 61 185R14Cs in the wearhourse in Montreal. Stock number 78012.

So I say to myself, "Self, what is up with that?"

Hi. Cancel the the LTX order and order four of this stock number please.

End story.

So: 1. armed with the knowledge provided to me by the people of this list, and 2. in spite of a lack of knowledge or laziness or stupidity on the retail tire folks around here,

I have the correct and safe tires coming next week from Montreal.

Important information for other list members, particularly those in Canada:

1. Michelin Agilis 61 185R14C are available in Canada 2. Their stock number is 78012 3. They cost about CA$120.00 4. The Rainforce MX4 is not appropriate, despite the michelin.com (.ca) reccomendation. This forth point validates other lsit members concerns over the load rating and maximum tire pressure available.

Thanks for all the help.

Dan
