Man... how you guys gonna beat me to talkin about all the funny names in my own state? Anyway, here where I live in Frankfort, KY the town was actually named after this guy Frank who first discovered a ford in the KY River to

allow people to continue traveling west & then the town grew b/c it was such a popular, convenient spot for travelers.
