Jason, We have a 91 Westy with air-conditioning... kinda sorta. We live south of you in the Beaumont area (actually a little north of there.) Plenty of heat and humidity. Our air blows out from behind just over the rear seat. When it is real hot it helps... BUT.. it will freeze the back of your head while you roast in front. I'm sure other list members have different experiences but.. my air is not working at this time (needs recharged after I replaced the radiator) and I am really debating the money it will cost to have it done... new drier.. and freon. As far as a compressor goes... we had one put on in Mexico a year or so ago. The mounts for the compressors are pretty universal (I am told) and the guys at the shop just made new lines that would fit the new compressor. Worked slick. I would think any good shop could either rebuild or retrofit a new ..non-VW... compressor on your vehicle. BTW... If you are into camping, several Texas list members are organizing a campout for sometime this Fall.. probably September. Good luck.. Don Welch 91 Westy "Nobadays"
