For those of you interested in how I ended up with the van it's a rather strange set of circumstances, so I'm not sure how useful this is other then for your amusement.

I was not home at the time of the accident so all this is from the police report, neighbors, and what I can surmise. I have 3 cars, all were parked in front of my house on the street. The other driver claims he was feeling dizzy. He rams into the back of the Westfalia, which pushes into the rear of my wife's Saab, which pushes into the rear of my Audi. Believe it or not the front bumper on the Westfalia doesn't have a scratch but the back of the Saab is estimated to be $7000 to repair. If only Westy's had a rear bumper as strong as the front!

Anyways, the other driver had minimal insurance. In fact so little, his insurance company (Safeco) is supposed to write me a check for his full coverage without even creating an estimate on any of my damage. Their adjuster knew it was way more then he had coverage for so he thought why waste the time. My insurance company (USAA) is picking up the balance. Due to my coverage everything I get from the other driver goes toward the Westy and my insurance will pick up the Saab and Audi. That's how I ended up with my totaled Westfalia. Thus, no estimate was ever written for the Westfalia by either company and both ins companys have said it is mine to do what I want.

Sad but true.

- Charlie.
