Subject: Ball joint removal Q..
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hi all,

OK, gonna replace ball joints and control arm bushings here in the near future. I've been reviewing the Haynes manual for a quick reference and my question is...

1..Can you "pickle fork" the lower ball joint out of the steering knuckle? Is there enough pressure applied from the coil spring to do this or must a special separator tool be used?

then..

2..Is there anyway around using a press to get the lower joint out of the lower control arm?

Thanks!
