Jay,

Double check my info, but I don't think my '85 has a pressure switch to turn compressor off in a low-pressure situation. How do I know? Just before I got my A/C serviced I had absolutely no Freon and the compressor ran. To the best of my knowledge pressure switches came on '86 and later models. Our '85s have a dealer-installed system while '86 and later models are factory-equipped.

Chris.

I have an '85 Westy that has the two service valves on the lines that enter the back of the A/C compressor. One valve is on the line which is closer to the center of the compressor. I would assume it is the low side? I have had this thing for almost two years and am now just getting around to the A/C. The compressor does not come on, I am assuming it is low on freon. PO said, "It works, it just needs freon."

Jay '85 Westy (The Hindenburg)
