There is very little internally inside the transmission that will cause shifter movement...Most likely the eng/trans mounts and linkage are the problem...There are shims for the Pinion shaft..(non changeble) and none for the maianshaft. Don't worry about it being a trans problem unless you have a noise or shifting problem would be my advice. Any movement internal in the trans would give you drivetrain slop and not shifter play.
