believe it or don't, not so! i co-drove a 73 highroof bus from texas to california once ... and was amazed that the roof made no difference ... it felt the same as my westfalia poptop camper. didn't seem to make much diff in the gas mileage, either. we got 20-23 mpg depending on the hills. well, til we got to las vegas and headed north. that lowered the mpg quite a bit ... crossing over some hills to california meant staying in 2nd gear for a long time. :( no, we didn't stop at the chicken ranch. :) yes, we were headed to mammoth lakes. :)

anyway, point being that the roof didn't seem to make any difference in the way the bus handled. which surprised the heck outa me ... i was expecting to be blown all over the road, and to have to slow waaaaaaay down when going around corners. but it was no worse than a westy.
